What happens when you get 2 amazing riders like Sam Pilgrim (NS Bikes) and Blake Samson (Octane One) together with a skilled video maker Mariusz Gadziemski (Gepardphoto.com) and photographer Szymon Nieborak (Delayedpleasure.com)?

A couple of weeks ago the guys met at Sam Pilgrim's local dirts for a video and photo shoot. The weather was finally great and Sam did a really good job preparing his secret track where he is usually practicing and testing his new gear.

The guys spent a couple of hours riding and shooting. Mariusz "Gepard" Gadziemski has put together this amazing Slo-Mo edit:

@bikeaddict totally man, you just gotta make sure its not overdone. Throw in some dubstep, and a couple of the worlds best dirt jumpers and you've got yourself a VOD.

Bashing slow motion editing in MTB videos seems to be as fashionable as a 5'3 12 year old with alligator arms riding 31" bars. Slow motion can be so effective when done right. Sure, too much of it can ruin a video, but too much of anything can. It's just another creative entity in film making. Nice vid with wicked talent.

It is very difficult to make a dubstep song work in a bike edit and very very few amateur videographers have succeeded in doing so. This edit is no exception. I think that a very very big factor in producing a good edit is the soundtrack and how well the feel of the shots match it. In the case of dubstep (generally quite dark and intense) most filmmakers make the amateur mistake of choosing it for their edits simply because it sounds cool. It seems to me as though there was very little thought put into this edit. The composition and editing were very sub-par. The slo-mo shots were cool though, although I would've liked to see some tighter shots to make the viewer more engaged in the action. Overall, not a bad edit but jump shot after jump shot after jump shot does tend to get boring after a while.

The slomo is an awesome tool, all the impact of a good still but added to the entertainment of a vid. With good music too.... tip top!
